    Smith2287 Welcome to Detailing

Well, guys I am in the market to lease a car that would sort of become my weekend ride/detail utopia. Today I test drove a 2008 BMW M3 coupe and I love the car and everything about it. It is considered a left over so they have a pretty aggressive program out on the car right now making it much more affordable than an 09. The only problem is the car has been on the lot for a long time and has a lot of swirls in the paint without even really looking. I mean today I watched the guys drive it out of the showroom so I could take it for a test drive. On monday I was going to go to some dealerships and try to find a Lexus IS F to test drive before I go ahead on the BMW. If I was going to going this route I figure I could probably get a similar lease since the car is about $10000 less. The only benefit of taking this path is that I could hopefully get paint that has not been touched at all by anyone. I have looked into the G37 as well but I just want to explore my options a little more first.
So if any of you guys have any suggestions on what to do or to even consider other cars please chime in because I am all ears. I am lucky to have made decent money this winter with my business that I now want to treat myself.

    Thanks,
    -Corey

Sounds like you're after mid-size, 4-door, fast, all the toys. About right?

After driving an M3, I don't think an Infinity is going to stack up. I'm happy to be proved wrong, but it's sort of a different class of car.

Also worth consideration is the Mercedes C63 AMG. You might also be able to find an Audi RS4, but I believe the last year they made them was 2008. They might all be gone.

In this bracket, I'd obviously test drive them all, but without having driven any of them, the Merc is the one that calls my name the most.

Well I drove the M3 coupe and loved it actually I like a four door but some coupes are just sweet. I called on a S5 and the price quoted over the phone was higher the M3 and the car msrp was less. I am only 21 but I want something I will enjoy, I look at it as you only live once. On monday I am going to call a different audi dealer. Thanks for the response,

I would have to agree with the other suggestions given here, BMW's are nice but compared to the the Lexus IS F, I've test drove the IS F and I was quite disappointed with it. The interior reminded me of a Honda Civic, I mean all plastic looking...I like a classy interior and I also enjoy carbon fiber but white carbon fiber to me is just not appealing.

Audi, Mercedes and BMW are good choices...I'm stuck on Audi and Mercedes. The Audi S line is wicked but the E 63AMG is extremely hard to ignore....but it depends on the price range your looking at...nothing wrong with the BMW M line.

Good luck choosing and what ever you choose I look forward to some pictures :thumb:

Thanks I looked into the c63 AMG and I am going to go look at it in person before making any major moves. I am also pondering possibly about getting a corvette but the mix of luxury and performance you get in the BMW or Audi seem to be a priority choice to me.

Yeah after some more research I think I rulled out the IS F because I want a coupe I think. I am going to try to test drive an S5 on monday. OO yes there will be plenty of pictures when as soon as I get the car.

I don't think there is anything else better to suggest. Your choices are all top-notch... unless you want a GT-R, LoL.

yeah i've driven both the IS F and the M3 and i have to say i would much rather own an M3. as a Audi/VW head myself, i am happy to see you are considering the S5. its a beautiful car with great performance. i cant imagine you would be disappointed. let us know how it goes!

First of all, congrats on a great winter! Nothing can beat that. You should check out ScheerSpeed's M3 purchase a few days ago. He also bought a leftover M3 at a great price, but the paint was in poor condition. As long as you don't get Jet Black, you can bring it back to life and have some fun doing it.

I'd say look at the M3 and the S5. I heard an S5 drive a few weeks ago and it sounded amazing! I do find the M3 better in the looks department, however. But get ready for 12-13mpg!!!

Corey what in the world are you so concerned about the swirls for? Dude with your skills and one weekend you would have the M3 looking better than the day it rolled off the BMW line. Good luck with any of the cars you choose. After a lot of hard work this winter you deserve it.:thumb:

Audi or Mercedes would be my pick......

Audi has really caught my attention with the S line. Looks like they have a really solid platform to work off of.

The Mercedes is just dead sexy. I think it edges the Audi on looks and would more than likely be my first pick.......test drives pending :D

Congrats on the success first off. As far as the cars go, I have been very fortunate that I have been able to drive a lot of performance cars since owing my business, and I have to say I would not touch a car without all wheel drive. Yes they are a little heavier, but take every car you are interested in out on the hwy and take an off ramp a little too fast and see what happens. Then, if possible, do it in the rain. The German car interiors are soooooo much nicer than anything from Japan or the US. You can't just look at 0-60 times either. Also, drive the car all over town. I don't know what your roads are like, but the thought of driving a supercar on the road in my town gives me nightmares. Our roads are horrible. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah the more I read on the lexus the more I don't really see me driving that car, thanks for the imput

Piet thanks I read that write up and the car is amazing, the BMW leftover I can get the great deal on is laguana Blue I think. I def want to drive the Audi before I call the BMW guy back though.

JL buddy it was a lot of hard work and running around this winter but looking back, it was all worth it. I know a weekend could make it look great but if I can get an audi paint never prepped it would put my mind at ease.

Thats a good point about the all wheel drive car I should try to drive the cars in rainy weather if possible. The roads here in NJ suck as well and driving any car is always a challenge i just really like to look and feel of these style of cars.

Well after a long day at looking and driving cars I think I made up my mind. I put a deposit down on a 08 bmw m3 hard top convertible. The exterior is a weird black/blue mix. I really didn't have many options because I was able to get a great deal if I got an 08 model. At first I was really excited but my mind keeps coming back to the corvette I drove earlier. It costs a little more and is not as practical as the BMW, but I really like that car. I really need to sleep on it and make a quick decision because I am set to pick up the M3 on saturday morning. So if you guys were in my shoes what would you choose to purchase, the 09 C6 vette or the 08 M3.

Well it depends on how much y awanna spend . lol I'd get em both if I could afford em ! I love Beamers and Vettes. I think the biggest question for you is do you want to seat 2 or 4?
Good Luck and I am sure which ever you decide you will have a blast with it.

Thanks I really don't need to sit 4 but it definitely is a convenient option to have available. There is just something about the that new gray corvette that keeps catching my attention. I am going to sleep on it tonight and decide in the morning what route I want to take. My head feels like it is going to explode I don't want to get the wrong car!!!!! As for the payments there is about a $50 dollar a month difference between the two, so money is not going to be the determining factor.

M3. No contest. Just the build quality alone makes the BMW worth the extra $50 a month. Remember, we want pics!!

Congrats on the potential vehicle :thumb:

Regarding choosing a Vett Vs a M3, I find that comparison to be quite drastic...I mean the vehicles are completely different, I mean if your looking for sport and HP then the Vett would be the best way to go. But if your looking for practicality, a little sophistication and style that would have to be the M3 and on top of that the M3 has decent HP as well, so it can still be a fun sports vehicle.

This is just my opinion, but the comparison between the two is quite drastic...just my :2cents: though.

Believe it or not the M3 is $50 less a month, i'm telling you the lease I was able get is very good considering the sticker on the car is over $75K

I know that is what I have been thinking that they are completely different styles of cars. That is why I put a deposit on the M3 because it is much more practical car.

Plus you'll be able to drive the crap out of the M3 and not have it fall apart in 6 months. Thats just my completely unbiased opinion - lol!
