Haha, I kept thinking I did something to get banned as it stated that my IP was banned :thud: Then I got my girlfriend to check for me and she reported the same. Needless to say I was quite glad that I wasn't banned for some reason haha :applause2:
Maybe all of those corrosive posts and infighting :catfight: finally burned down the server? : Ok, ok, I'll stop.
I used a proxy because I thought I was banned, and it gave me a message saying Autopia has crashed, and it should've been up by 6 PM tonight. Guess it's late.
There was just another post by davidb. It states autopia won't be back up before saturday morning. I could care less about post count, I just hope the old threads aren't gone. I love searching old threads and reading reviews or whatever.
yup its down and its crashed last I heard most was recovered but if I lose everything on that sight I will be pretty upset!
I highly doubt they will lose everything. I would imagine they have a failover strategy, or that at least their production server is backed up in a mirrored environment...
Yeah, it sucks that they are down, I don't remember them ever being down for this long in my 3+ years of membership there. Hopefully all the old posts, threads, etc. will be alright.
It would be a shame to loose so many great write ups by people like Scottwax, Bob and Todd. You would think Davidb would have a nice back up system for situations like this.
Does it mean everything will be lost? I had less than 50 posts so I won't complain but for those with 1000s ......
Some of you guys may know what it takes to run a forum others may not but to be honest as forums grow so do the costs to run/operate them. Forum crashing is my worst fear, loosing information, posts, threads..ect..ect..just wouldn't want to deal with it but you plan for the worst, as long as funds/budgets are available and hope for the best. The more space you need/want the more expensive things get and backing things up comes with a price tag attached to it. I hope all works out for Autopia.
