...not to the east siiiiide though. as some of you may know, i have been detailing at a BMW/Lexus/Toyota dealership for some time now. while its been a decent job and all, the pay wasnt as good as i feel it should have been (or feel i should be getting paid for my skills or whatever). i did the right thing, and instead of first coming right out and asking for a raise, i asked my boss if i can start working more hours and maybe saturdays. he said he cant give me any overtime. i explained to him that im not one of these 20-somethings living at home with mommy and daddy. i have bills to pay. he said he would try and see if he could help me out. well a week went by and apparently he totally forgot, so i went down to the area Porsche/Audi/VW Dealership and applied. the next day at work i was telling one of my co-workers about how i applied at the porsche/audi/vw place, and he tells me how he is good friends with the detail manager there and says how he'll call him for me and put in the good word. well i talked to the manager at the porsche place, and he had me come down so he could pick my brain this past friday. that went well, so he asked me to come in today to do an exterior for him as a "try-out". i oblidged, and walked in to find a black S5 with bad holograms and swirls. regardless, i handled it and had the manager and the other detailers there watching me the whole time. they had a nice halogen light stand on the corner not being used, so i pulled that out too and used it. some of them were like, what the heck is he doing with that. it was kinda funny. anyways, he was very impressed with my capabilities, and offered me a job on the spot, and the option to work saturdays as well (i'll be opening the shop myself on saturdays and working basically by myself on saturdays...NICE). the pay and the fact that i will be able to work overtime on saturdays will double my income, which is a life saver for me right now, as im moving at the end of september. plus now i get to work on cars i really love. bimmers are nice, but i LOOOOVE me some VAG, haha. just wanted to post this up, as im really excited about it right now!
VEEEEEEEEERY NiCE! I bet your old boss will miss you, and regret that he diden`t take better care of you
hells yeah. and discount on VAG parts too im guessing haha thats what the manager from the VAG shop was telling me. he was like; you know, your boss is probably going to play tug of war with you once you give him your two weeks and try and offer you more money etc. funny thing is, the place i work at right now doesnt care. they just want as many cars turned out as fast as possible. they'll just hire some hack detailer to replace me, and then the shop will be 100% full of hack "detailers".
Now that's the kind of story I like to hear. Congrats on the 'upgrade'!! It should do wonders for your morale. Wish you the best of luck.
dude ... that's great!!! I guess you won't even think about detailing DD's like mine ... lol Anyways congrats ... you may even get a discount on that RS4 :applause2:
Congratulations on the new gig Billyblooshoes :applause: Your old boss is an idiot for not giving you more hours. Hopefully this new place will give you more oppurtunity for advancing your detailing career. :chips:

Well congrats, Billy. I didn't know you were working as a detailer at a dealership for the past few months.
