Just got this combo Menz PO203/PO85RD Uber Green & Blue Pad What rpm/speed should i use? (Makita 9227 CX3 Rotary Polisher) Am I suppose to do IPA wipedown after each pass or just final wipedown? How do I know to move on from PO203 to PO85RD? What is the average time just for polishing?
1. I use 600 RPM to spread for 1-2 passes quickly. Then I move up to one click above 2 which is about 1000 RPM to start breaking the polish down. Then depending on the paint, I'll break the polish down completely at either 1500 or 1700 RPM. Afterwards, I'd finish around 1000. 2. You should ideally use an IPA wipedown after PO203S because that is your cutting polish. 3. After you finish with PO203S, just go straight to PO85RD on blue. 4. My times are ridiculously slow with those two polishes because they have such a long work time. By a long work time, I mean it takes forever to break down PO85RD to my liking. I take a full two days on a car which I have to use both. It takes me about 3/4 of the time with M105/205, but the results aren't as good. I hope this helps.
should IPA consist of 50/50 alcohol/distilled? am i suppose to do IPA wipedown after PO85RD also? then move on to sealant/LSP?
i use straight 91% alcohol in a spray bottle because i'm too lazy to dilute it you should ideally use it after po85rd to be sure. however, po203s can easily finish LSP ready, so I just go straight to the paint prep Duragloss 601 after I clean up things like tape and polish residue.
It is so easy..just pour a 16 oz bottle of IPA in a 32 oz sprayer, fill with water, and you have pretty close to 50/50/
IPA Methodology Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) solution 1:1 with distilled water, if used undiluted it flash / dries (evaporates) rapidly, which lessens surface inspection time. Fill a fine misting spray bottle with a solution of 1:1 Isopropyl alcohol / distilled water, spray the paint surface, and agitate before wiping the paint surface with a clean, dry 100% cotton micro fibre towel( if it flashes too quickly (hot surface or environment) use further dilution)
you using rotary or DA? we can asume rotary since you talk about RPM but to be sure there is not average time for polishing. everybody do it different, depends on speed and other stuff just look when polish is broken down and then you will know.
