I have a torrent that the kids want to see and it's in that format. There are several offered on Google but I was hoping for someone to have experience with one already.
Actually, you don't have to convert it. You can download Divx Codec from here: Download the DivX Codec and DivX Player - DivX Movies. After installing the codec, you can then use Windows Media Player to play it or you can use a Divx Player, such as Media Player Classic, which you can downlkoad from here: DivX Players - DivX Movies
Thanks, but to clarify, I want to convert them to .avi so I can burn them to dvd's so I can play them on the dvd player, not the computer.
Oh, I see. In that case, what you need is Divx to DVD converter. There are tons of programs out there, but my favorite is Xilisoft DivX to DVD Converter. For further info, click here: DivX to DVD Converter - Convert DivX to DVD, XviD to DVD Converter
convertxtodvd easy....fast.....awesome! Nero Vision WinFF. BiggMatt.com WinFF No BS, just tell it what you want the files to be and it converts. Mediacoder is the most capable but it's a pain in the ass to use. MediaCoder - more than a universal audio/video transcoder
Have you tried Xvid4PSP? Sorry I don't have the link handy at the moment but it has ton's of different encoding options :thumb:
Thanks for all the responses, guys. I ended up going with this one (WinFF.) I tried it this morning and it worked great.
Hey, Richy, what kind of DVD player do you have? I have Phillips, and it plays just about everything. Plays all DivX files for sure...and it's only $40 DVD player...
