Has anyone ever taken scratches out of their cd or dvd by polishing or wetsanding it? If so, could you please post your process? I thought that someone had started a thread on this but I can't find it.
i have used the devices dedicated to this fuction and they work great. by hand i would worry about keeing everything uniform. i'm sure it could be done just like in head lights. try on an AOL CD first
i use the DA with a 5.5" white pad and some 106FA. hold the disc in your upper left palm and dab a few pea size dots on the pad, then place it on the disc and turn it on between 3-5. slowly move the disc around in your palm with your fingers as the PC is polishing it (stop and check your progress as you go). it's worked well for me and i've got discs to play again that were skipping and weren't working before...
Go to disc-go-round. They do it for cheap with a bench grinder. Of course, they have a felt wheel that they buff out the scratches with. I think they charge a buck.
I use a small piece of foam or a foam applicator pad and some Novus #2 plastic polish, once dry buff off it works everytime.
