    Hi guys.

Got my Kestrel DAS-6 Sonus kit through the other day and finally had a chance to put it into action today.

The weather was literally freezing and my car was covered in a light dusting of snow and ice.

I got out my brand spanking new Halfords HP1400 PW and had a go at getting the ice off - to no avail as it was too thick. I then used warm water to melt it and went back to using the PW again.

I was well impressed with the little Halfords PW as it worked excellently and I got it for just £33 :thumb: here.

The car was covered in a fairly thick layer of road salt but it came off no probs as the car was waxed to death just before winter really hit hard.

I then used a Muc-Off microfibre wash mitt along with a bucket of warm water which had ValetPRO Poseidon's Carnauba Wash in it (fab stuff:D)

As I washed the car, ice was re-forming which was a pain but I got there in the end.

Pulled the car into the garage and dried the bonnet off (the rest of the car was still frozen:wall:). I only planned to do the bonnet today as it was brass monkeys weather and I wanted to see how it went first.

After claying the bonnet with Dodo Juice Supernatural Clay and Born Slippy Clay Lube, it was time to break out my brand new DAS-6:thumb:

Having a look around I noticed that there was barely any swirl marks at all, but a lot of RDS. I think the bonnet has had a re-paint at some point and they haven't left the clear coat to dry long enough, then they've washed it and used the dreaded and very stupid rubber squeegee.

Masked off the car with 3M tape and then it was time for a break - peanut butter muffins...mmm lol:thumb:

First off - Masked off an area and started with a Sonus SFX-4 pad and SFX-3 Final Finish.

This didn't have overly much effect so I went on to using an SFX-2 pad with SFX-2 Enhance.
This didn't do much to the scratches either so it was up another stage.

Onto an SFX-1 Restorer pad and SFX-1 Restore polish.

This cleared up a lot of the scratches and I was happy with it so carried on and did the full bonnet. After this I went back to the SFX-4 pad and SFX-3 Final Finish polish to (of course) finish off.

Happy with the results, I finished the job off with 2 coats of ValetPRO Orion's Shield paint sealant.

I've cleared up a lot the RDS but tbh I think it needs a respray to get it looking excellent again.

I'm well happy with the job as it's the first time that I've used a machine polisher since my training with Parc Fermé 7 or 8 months ago.

Sorry for the pic quality but what do you reckon guys?:thumb:

+1 water freezing really sucks. No one knows how tough it is to remove until it happens to them. it's a real pain in the arse.

Looks like good work! It's always very rewarding to see what you can accomplish with the right tools/knowledge.

Thanks guys. Braving the ice etc was well worth it:thumb:

Cheers. I'm fairly new to using my DA, so I spent from 10am - 4pm doing the car as I was testing various compound/pad combos first.

Dodo Juice clay Lube is absolutely spot on. Can't fault it at all. The Orion's Shield is a really really good product too and it's lasted me very well through the winter months :thumb:
