ok guys this is my first time doing a real detail

im going from a orbital buffer 30 bucks at WalMart and meguires stuff to my new set up of

    a Flex xc3401
    sonus green clay
    swissvax cleaner
    pinnacle-sovereign wax
    swissvax corsico
the pads that came with the flex from DD orange green blue and black
a couple uber pads in black green and blue

    all 6.5 in size

now then whats a good polish to use
i need a med and a light polish

also where do i get LC pads?

    also whats a good glaze

    from what ive read its
    a good wash
then use the swissvax cleaner to remove old wax etc
then a good clay with the sonus
    then a polish
    then glaze
then a wax aka lsp right?

i plan on working on a 2x2 section going side to side and up and down correct?
what speed for polishes is best and what about lsp's?

im going to try it on my sc400 first
    then q45
    then my m3
    then on to a gt3

ive read a lot but now im just plain confused

thnx guys im shure in some way this is a repost but im lost here:deadhorse:

With so, so many choices in everything from buffers, pads, polishes, etc...you're right..it can get very confusing. I recommend Menzerna power finish as a polish/compound that can do light cutting with an aggressive pad and jeweling with a mild pad. It's their most versatile product and gives awesome results. There used to be some great videos on this site to watch for instruction on rotary polishing but they got taken down with the new owner...shame, really. Start slow, keep it moving and work the polish until it goes clear. If you've already been playing with a pc, it's not going to be that much different...just faster results. As far as glaze goes, it's unnecessary. Spend your time jeweling the paint with a black or gray LCC pad and the Menzerna and your finish will be true and beautiful, not temporarily good like what a glaze will do. Seal in your work with a high quality sealant like Duragloss or a strong wax like Collinite and Bob's Your Uncle!! Make sure to post up pics though!!!:picture::picture::picture:

Just get Menzerna polishes and LC flat pads. Ken at autowerkes exclusive has the LC flat pads. If you are correcting the paint you do not need a glaze. Swissvax cleaner fluid is for pre wax application. You need to clay the car to remove any contamination prior to polishing. Simply it goes like this

    Wash
    Clay
    Wash
    Inspect
    Test
    Polish
    Refine/Jewel
    IPA wipedown
    Cleaner Fluid
    Wax

Its more than that, but to put it simply thats my order.

so ditch the pads that came with the flex aswel as the uber ones and get the lc pads or is there something i can use the other pads with?

I follow Richy's thoughts... Menz Power Finish is a great light to medium polish. LC pads, there are quite a few places to get those but the Uber pads are pretty good as well. I personally prefer the 5.5 inch pads and smaller. I usually don't use glazes but a good one has always been the Danase Wet Glaze. As for speeds on the Flex, I can't really say since I have no experience with the Flex DA.

Well if you already have Uber pads stick with them. They are supposed to be really good pads. As far as which pads, its good to have one of each.

Dont ditch the uber pads! They are great pad and top quality. No need to ditch them (see below for comparison on colors)

Good job on getting Power Finish, great stuff.

As you have uber pads, no need to any any LC pads.

    Correct, uber = great!

Now, you will see some people using uber or LC, this is just off personal opinion and what people buy when they needed pads. Both are great pads and top quality. The colors are a bit different so you can use your uber pads in place of LC pads just use a similar one.

    Uber : LC
Yellow - Orange + bit more cut
    Orange - Orange (same)
Green - White (Green has just a bit more cut)
Blue - Gray (very very little cut)
    Black - Red/blue(zero cut)

Never used that one but I read where a lot of people use it specifically to strip LSP. I have used Duragloss 901 which is great and Optimum's soap which I also liked. You will get LOTS of different opinions here on soap...do some searching and see.
