Hey guys, I have been here for a few days but just introduced myself in the other section of this forum a few mins ago. I was looking at the ADS package deal with the g110v2 and 6 pads for $190.00 and m105 and m205 in hopes to do my own car. and after the paint correction finish it with megs nxt. I was wondering if this is the right setup to buy. Again I am not a professional but I plan on washing, claying, paint correction m105 and 205 with polishing and finishing pads and finally megs nxt techwax with a finishing pad. My question is does all this sound right? I am looking for a simple setup with results. Also can anyone recommend a protectant for plastic engine pieces. Thanks, Vik
The megs g110v2 is supposed to be a very nice machine. M105 is great, never used m205. protectant for plastic engine pieces would be 303 aerospace protectant. great product and hass UV protection as well.
I have been using Duragloss #265 aerosol spray for engine bays. If you like shiny plastic you can spray and walk away. I like more of a matte finish so I wipe it down with a dry microfiber after spraying.
I am more of a matte person also, 303 is more of a matte finish? and how would we go about applying 303? Also I read in someone didnt think so highly of 105 or 205, the thing is im a begginer so I dont want to mess anything up I want something easy that I can learn from and then eventually move onto harder things.
I would suggest you use something less aggressive than M105 as it abrasive is rated 12/12 unless you are removing serious scratches. Perhaps Menz PO 203S Power Finish (a one-step polish) might be better suited, but as I've said this is dependant upon the scratches to be removed
Everyone has their favorite polish. I think M105 and M205 are easy to use and less reliant on technique (pad pressure, breakdown time. You just work them for a short time and done (just quick spread then 3 or 4 passes max). They do not need to worked like most traditional diminishing abrasive polishes. They will finish well enough to satisfy almost anyone and work good with a DA. You should start with M205 since M105 is very aggressive.
Alright, My car has never been detailed, its a 04 Nissan. Although I do handwash it I am sure that the previous owner did not hand wash it. How is the paint on those cars?
