I really love my gloss black wheels but they get dirty REAL fast.

What could I do to keep them shiny or protected, or at least, easily washable.

I want to avoid to rub them too much since scratches are very noticeable on this gloss finish.

    Thanks guys.l

Autobahn doesnt really have any durability to speak of and in my experience with it, doesnt really do much as far as making wheels easier to clean, probably due to its lack of durability

ShelovesMe you can use your regular car shampoo with your wheel brushes, it will be significantly more cost effective and soaps tend to be much better lubricated than wheel cleaners to add some lubricity while cleaning them versus just a straight wheel cleaner.

alright. Is there any product I can use in between washes to keep the finish glossy, a kind of protective film.

i like rim wax it last for about 3 to 4 weeks and 2 weeks if you brake a lot and hard its cheap and makes the wheels easyer to clean however its kinda a pita to put on

also use a wheel cleaner mentioned above first no brushes rise off then use soapy water that works best imo hope that helps:shrug:

Depending on where you are shopping, you can use any regular car wax or paint sealant on them.

If you are looking for something quicker that is found OTC, something like Duragloss Aquawax, or Mothers FX spray wax, Meguiars Quik wax(which i havent used but some people Love)

YOu can just use these after you rinse your wheels, spray them on and continue drying the wheels OR after they are dried give them a spritz and wipe them down.

DG aquawax is some addicting stuff, be warned:thumb:

You are going to get a wide array of answers whenever you ask what product to use,....

The attributes I value and look for in rim protection products are:

    • Durability
    • Ease of application

With that said the below products provide very good protection, will make it easier for you to clean your rims with just regular car wash soap (when cleaned regularly) and are relatively easy on / easy off

    Duragloss 601 Polish Bonding Agent
    Followed by
    Duragloss 105

I have not been using Menzerna Powerlock for long enough to be able to speak on it's durability (new product) but, if it can keep it with the durability ofn the above Duragloss products, I give it the knudge due to easier application

P21S wheel gel, Sonax Full Effect, Autoglym CWC are my favorite wheel cleaners, hands down...CG diablo 3:1 works well too it you clean your wheels regularly. Still have Gloss It wheel gel to try out...
I'm currently testing Migliore wheel seal on wheels of my daily driver...I'm liking it so far...It's a hard paste sealant, smells almost identical to RBOE...

did you option with the ceramics ?

i have those on the GT2 and they dont give off any brake dust at all

my tried and tested method - first hose down the wheels thoroughly, then spray a good pre-wash wheel cleaner like P21S, let soak while i clean inside the dish with an EZ-Brush, then use a microfibre mitt and car shampoo to clean the wheel surface

i wouldnt bother with SV autobahn. Ive tried a few wheel dedicated waxes and they never last. My advice would be to use a pre-wax cleaner with a sealant in it, like Z-AIO, then layer 2-3 coats of a highly durable wax like Collinite 476S

If you are looking for readily available sealants to use, I have really liked Poorboy's Wheel Sealant as a dedicated protectant for rims while any of the Collinite range (476, 845, 915) do a great job as well. My favorite wheel sealant by far is Planet Polish Wheel Seal and Shine, but it is available from the UK. I have never seen a product that adds so much gloss and 'bling' to a paint surface and I wasn't exactly expecting miracles from the product in the first place.

found an inexpensive great solution. of all things amor all aerosol spray on wheel protectant. was on sale at auto zone for 3.99 about 6 bucks at wal mart. use it on my mercedes and it works! lasts 2-3 weeks with just wipe off of any brake dust. try it

I ordered it from their site directly, Planet Polish, A World of Difference . I have become much more neutral as far as new product expectations go, meaning I expect nothing from a product and therefore am not looking for amazement which makes Planet Polish WS+S pretty amazing. I will try and get some pictures but the difference in gloss is immediately noticeable, even on my car which is mint to begin with. Durability is sitting around 4 months, if not more from a single coat and it is very easy to apply and remove.

    thanks guys !

I am now debating between spray wax ( like Duragloss Aqua Wax) and solid wax ( like Collinite 476S).

I really like the easy application of spray wax but I am afraid to loose some durability in the process.

You have nailed a perfect dilemma. DG AW works over both sealants and nubas. 845 is more a sealanty wax anyway.

Perfect, just take the time to detail your wheels and wax them with 845 then you can just keep that going with DG spray wax whenever you so feel. DG AW is slick.

am I better with 476S or 845 for my wheels ? any other similar product ?

    christian900se Obsessive Detailer

845 is a bit easier to work with and remove with the same if not better durability than 476s in my experience. The liquid form of 845 makes it better in this application but honestly, you can't go wrong with either as they are both very durable and make cleaning easy.

    - I'm actually quite impressed with Autobahn. You can just buy the 50 ml pot, and try it.
I gave the garage queen's wheels 2 coats last year, and when I took them off a few weeks ago to reapply and clean arches, shocks and springs, not much more than a blast with some foam and a rinse with the PW was needed. The finish is really slick, and as you're running ceramics it should do pretty well.

    Kind regards,

    Ebbe Jørgensen
