hey guys, been super busy and havent had time to post up writeups and what not. this one was from today though, and its a quickie so i figured id share.

this detail is a little out of the ordinary for me...a harley! i was contacted by the owner via a referral from one of my other customers. the bike is a 2008 Harley Davidon Limited Edition Heritage Softail. 1 of 5000 made i believe. anyways, the bike was dripping in chrome, and as you can imagine, it took a toll of my fingers and knuckles. the owner simply wanted the bike cleaned up, chrome polished and protected, paint protected, and leather cleaned and treated. i gave it an ONR wash for obvious reasons. to clean and polish the chrome (including wheels) i used Optimum Metal Polished, then sealed with Blackfire All Metal Sealant. The paintwork was treated with Swissvax Cleanerfluid, and then protected with Collinite 845. Leather was cleaned with 1Z DPC, and then treated with Harley Davidson Brand Leather Dressing/Conditioner, which was supplied by the owner.

Leather Being Treated (note the leather is glossy because the conditioner has already been applied. the heat and direct sunlight really let the product "melt into" the hide, and it buffed off to a really nice satin finish)

so when doing bikes, we should avoid pressure washer or regular garden hose? Just use onr?

  4. Harleys don't do it for me but nonetheless great job Billyblooshoes :applause:

BTW what is the obvious reason behind using ONR :shead:

Using a garden hose is fine. I have a bunch of bikes I do every year and have never had a problem when using the hose.

Great job Bill. I love doing bikes. Having a motorcycle jack helps as well. Mine will lift a full dressed Harley 18" off the ground so cleaning the wheels and lower portions is easily done from the comfort of a rolling stool.

Billy, nice job on the Hog. My Suzuki has a similar colour scheme..it's not too common. Ken is right about getting a lift if you plan to do more (and get referrals from this one). As far as using ONR, remember that the bikes are made to be ridden in rain so using a hose is no biggie. That and a leaf blower will do a great job too..whatever you prefer. Harley owners are particularly picky so I'll bet you get some referrals from this job.

thanks. polishing chrome by hand is definitely not fun.

as the others have stated, using a garden hose is fine. im not sure i would use a pressure washer though.

thank you. yeah im not too into harleys or cruisers myself, but i do respect their craftmanship and styling. i used ONR on this one as it was relatively clean as it was, so going over it with ONR and a MF towel did the trick nicely.

thanks a lot rich! the referral from this job came from one of my other customers who i do a good amount of work for who also owns a harley that ive detailed, so im sure i'll get some more work out of it.

    great work billy ...

this is the reason that if I get another bike is going to be completely matte black. Love the chrome, but I hate maintain it.
