Ok I gave you guy's a teaser a few days ago, here is the full write up. This vehical belongs to a good customer of mine. He uses it to haul the toys to the lake, so it doesn't get that much use but as you can see the Scuff-n-Buff hasn't let me down!! RIDS, Holograms and poor sanding done by the factory! This customer lets me do what ever I want to the vehicals! He hands me the keys and says" make it look new like you usually do!" Cool customer , car guy with a fleet of imports and exotics I've had the pleasure of touching over the past 7 years! Anyway I never post any of my as you can tell by my picture taking abilities!! So I thought I've learned allot over the years lurking around these sites sometimes asking/answering questions I would give it a try. So here we go! This is how it was delivered: Stereo guys did this Custom interior Paint Proceeded to wash with mixture of CGCW/OPC in the foam gun and P21s wheel gel and TAW on arches and suspension. Down here in Texas the temperature are above 100 so Leatherique is going to work good! So put on the first of 3 coats. After washing this is what I got So after some trial and error I settled on Flex 3401 and PFW with 105. Followed that up with rotary and Tangerine with 205. 105 pulled out most of the defects but with heavy dusting. More dusting than usual. Tried different combo's but settled on 205 and rotary for speed of remaining defects. Rotary by the way is also Flex (3403) as my makita is down for the count! I like this combination but it does leave some holograms. I went over again with rotary and black LC and 85RD to jewel the paint and it came out pretty good! Lot more depth in this paint now. As for the scratch wetsanding was in order but due to the thickness of the paint in the area (63m) all of it could not be removed. After 105 After 105 and 205 Almost there just a little hazing nothing that RD can't take of! Called it a day, pulled the back half out of the shop. Went to bed. Day 1 105* hot!! Can't get the front in so outside I go. Ok this is Day 2 106*- as you see 205 does a good job clean-up but holograms are left behind. Cleaned up with rotary and 85 RD finished nice. After sitting outside all day I know all the oils flashed off but I did do 3 IPA wipe downs before 2 coats of BFWD. Sprayed ice cold DI water beforehand to ensure the panels were cooled down. A day between coats of BFWD . Day 3 no better 104*. Finished up interior and polished chrome and the huge exhaust can!! Afternoon sun shots need work, they all turned out bulry? Morning and evening turned out good. Had to "tightened up the safety wire job" (as Norcal Bob would say...lol) Last coat of BFWD doing its thing What left of the scratch. Looks worse than it was. Last day before delivery, final checks and photo's Combed out the fins that the dealer hacks smashed! Didn't take any pictures of finished out interior??? Wiped down and shampoed carpet and spots. Seats came out great! Leatherique worked well on the Ostrich. Spent 19 hours total on this beast! Thanks for looking
I live in La, I know how hot it was I work all day long outdoors 12-14hrs everyday,,,have to stay hydrated...looks very clean,nice work,:applause2:
looks good man. How the hell can you wash in that heat and in direct sun light. I had a small job today doing a all blacked out hummer . . . . glad i started at 6:30am as it gets hot in Hawaii. Didn't have a garage either.
Thanks Brendon, it's not that easy with large vehicals that I can't completly get in the shop. I lost 9 nine pounds on this one! Drank I think a case of gatorade and gallon jugs of water. You just got to be careful in this heat.
Vtec, washing outside when it is this hot is not fun! You can watch the water evaporate right off the panels. I prefer evening deliverys so that I can do a complete wash while the sun is low. I have a CR Spotless that does help. Before I would rinse the vehicle and then do ONR wash right after washing one panel at a time just to remove water spots. But the CR does help allot now if the phone rings I can walk away and if it air dries I can spot wash with ONR. Thanks for looking!
