Prima Epic Review

I was a proponent of Phil carrying the Prima line and now that he is I thought it might be worth while to post up a review of one of the products in the line I haven't tried yet. I have been using Banana Gloss and never tried Epic so I pulled the trigger with the most recent promotion Phil was doing. Anyway I was washing some family cars this weekend and the FedEx truck pulled up with my order and figured would be good to try Epic out.

At first glance I didn't expect it to have as thick of a consistency as it does. Given Banana Gloss is literally like soup it was a surprise given it's a sealant. It is also seems thicker than Collinite but on par with BFWD.

When applying it went on pretty easy. On my dad's car which was under cover it went on much smoother given his paint was much cooler than mine was. It was also pretty humid out since we were expecting showers and that could have tampered with its ease of application. It applied similar to BFWD and flashed pretty quick too. Overall, the application was pretty easy and a little product went a long way.

As far as taking Epic off I tested two different time frames. When I applied it to my dad's TL I left it on while I cleaned up in the interior which was about 30-45 minutes. In the scope of things this wasn't a good idea I found it harder to take off. When applying it to my car I applied to half the car then removed it and found it to be much easier to take off. I tend to have a heavy hand during application so I did find some streaking but I followed up with Prima Slick which is one of my favorite QD's and this cleared everything up.

In the end I am very happy with the look of Epic. It gives a real deep wet look and even in overcast conditions I was able to see the metallic flake in my paint pop. Also, given it rained today it had real nice tight beading and sheeted the water extremely well. As far as longetivity goes I guess we will see as time goes on. I can see it being a go to LSP for me since for some reason I am on a sealant kick recently. In comparison to other Sealants I found it pretty easy with initial use, definitely not as easy to apply as Collinite but still more than manageable. I know these posts are worthless without pics so here are some.

Cool! Thanks for the review. I'm waiting on my BG, Epic and Hydro.. all were back ordered for me.

I find your remark about it being thick but 'on par' with BFWD confusing. My BFWD is pretty thin.

    thanks for the feedback

as much as im not a sealant man, i do want to try this - it seems the only Prima product i dont have

i applied BF GEP and BF WD on the weekend (the first stage of the wet ice kit), and using sealants in winter does make sense - it rained yesterday and today and my black car still looks spotless

id be keen to compare the BF twins with Amigo + Epic

Yeah I think that would be a good comparison, once the fall comes closer I plan on stripping everything and maybe I'll get a chance to do the Amigo and Epic combo, I hear they are reallll nice.

Thanks Chas nice review. I have used it a few times but have always applied with PC. I never had a issue removing . I left it on for long periods of time before removal. Humidity may have been a factor. I'm waiting on my new bottle as its on backorder. Since my brother hijacked the one I had . Again thanks for sharing.

How long did you leave it on for? Yeah I think it was the humidity because I have heard that this product is an easy on easy off LSP, maybe I will try applying it via PC next time just to change things up.

Prima is looking promising. The paint on both cars look very liquid and wet. Great job.

I have left it on for over an hour. I apply it then do the interior . Then go back and remove.

I have a question: Can you apply both Prima Banana Gloss and Epic after each other? Or how do you use these products? I mean one is a sealant and one seems like a liquid wax. So can I apply Epic first, wait for 48 hours and then add a layer of BG?

I would wait at least 12 hours before applying Banana

yyaman, yes you can. A top coat of a wax is not needed with sealant, but I personally like adding a sacrificial layer on top of a sealant and it can help tweak the look of the car (bright, deep tone, etc) Sealants alone seem to make a car too 'bright" at times.

I am still waiting for my EPIC also. I am interested to here from more people on cure time too. Sounds like we have 1 for wipe on and basically wipe off, and 1 for let it sit and take off.

Hopefully I will have my EPIC to try on the next car that rolls into the garage for a clean up.
