how long after applying power lock do you guys wait to buff it off. with the warm weather that we had, briefly, up here in seattle I have been letting it stand for 5 minutes but wil wait as long as 10 minutes sometimes. I seriously see that it is on there for good after only 5 minutes in the shade of the garage but want to hear what you guys are all doing thanks godoman
The swipe test is your friend. Run your finger through it and if the path you made is clear ( no streaking ) its ready to remove.
is there any benefit to allowing it to sit longer? I know many members here let it sit for a good 30 minutes or so.
I tried leaving it on for 30 min, even an hour and the shine is the same to me as taking it off after only 5 to 10 minutes. I was told that when it hazes over it is good to go and it is doing it that fast so I remove it with a towel and it beads water when I test it so it must finish that fast. godoman
I see no benefit in this ^ There are actually still ppl here in Mphs that apply Turlewax, then ride around all day to let it "Bake In" Only thing I see coming out of this is a sore shoulder :cig:
ok, so at this point, with what I have been seeing with this product, I can apply it and as soon as I see it haze over I can start wiping it off the car. that is what I have been doing and it has been very successful. do any of you guys think that I could speed up the process by using fans to speed up the dry time of the power lock? godoman
I'm really not sure what you are trying to accomplish. It's only going to dry so fast. In normal conditions, by the time you have gone around the car and applied it, it'll be ready to remove. The only thing you can do is get it on thin. What's the big hurry for?
How are you applying it? With these liquid sealants, I much prefer DA application...which applies it more evenly and thinly than by hand in my experience. And such, helps with drying/curing time.
I think he is using a DA with lc black or red pad to apply PowerLock on. He uses his Optima steamer to clean the outside of a car, then apply PL, like a wash and wax and gogogo package. He is trying to achieve better time, I guess. Are you doing this with your partner or by yourself?
HOw hot is this steaming? I can only think steam is killing off the powerlock sealant depending on how hot it gets. I wouldnt waste powerlock on dealer anyway, no chance.
