I was kicking around the idea of learning how to install clear bras and offering that service in addition to detailing. So, I just have a couple of questions for anyone who may have experience in this stuff. Does any one know what brands are best as far as quality and reliability? As far as not discoloring. Im certain preparation is key for it to stick properly and not start peeling up. I always hear mixed results about every brand, but I figure I'd ask. Are there classes that you can take to learn how to install the bra? Or is it more or less "practice on a friends car" for the first time around then don't mess it up after that. Is clear bra-ing a pretty user-friendly material to work with? I understand that preparation and attention to detail is key, but I would like to hear from people that deal with this stuff on a regular basis. Also, if you have some tips on where to buy the product and a vauge idea on how to charge (hourly? Sq-ft?) let me know)
i have been thinking of the same thing ...i service a lot of modded imports and they all have carbon fiber lips mirrors and wings and are interested in this for sure
not easy to work with if you want to do it right. 3m or ventureshield if you are serious go and take the training classes with 3m.
I couldn't agree more with the above. We use 3M and our guy has been doing it for a long time. The biggest issues we have with customers is how the clear bra looks in a year. The bugs get embedded and it starts to look cloudy instead of clear. If you are looking to make money and work with film, get 3M certified to install their window film. Amazing stuff and you can make $100K/year installing film.
My parents car has a 3M front and after 3 years its starting to go dull. Anything I can do to repair the cloudiness?
I polish them using the mildest polish with the softest pad and moisture, carefully, using a PC at lower speeds. My '09 Grand Cherokee has VentureShield (which I understand was purchased by 3M), for 2 years now and a I polish it once a year, apply the LSP Im using, and it looks brand new. Dan F
