Before this pick I sprayed 1Z Blitz 1:10 all over the car and let it dwell for a couple minutes. This was the hood. Dried off and in the sun A fingernail catches on this scratch Used loads of pressure on the PC testing the cut with Menzerna Power Finish and a Meguiar's MF Cutting Disk. It leveled it off a bit but it's far too deep to reduce it further. B-pillar marring Meg's MF Disk and Menz PF made quick work on this. As for the rest of the car with this combo - had RIDS all over but about 80% correction was achieved. Finished - Had to get back outside before the sun faded to night. LSP of choice was AQuarts Nano Coating - applied per Dave's (dsms) instructions (used distilled water). Some steaking occured, but this is a DD and heavy duty protection was more important. I love it - I'm surprised I still have about 2/3 of the small bottle left so I'm hoping everyhing was covered. Thanks guys; I appreciate the feedback. I was expecting the disks would cut more than that. But I suppose that's what D300 is for. It was hard to capture any 50/50s since the car was detailed about this time last year and minimal consistent marring occurred. I love AQuarts so far - super easy to use and left a really slick surface. If it hold well I'm delling a few waxes and sticking with AQuarts for DD, PowerLock for a liquid sealant, CG Celeste Dettaglio and maybe another luxo-wax for the novelty.
Great job Chase! The discs do cut out a large amount of defects, but then again. BMW is some HARD CC.
I have found that the prep for the AQuartz is the foundation, the better the surface is prepared the better the results. I also like using a 100 PPI foam applicator slightly moistened as you go around the car spritz the applicator pad from time to time to keep the AQuartz spreading nicely and of course a really proper ISO wipedown is key thus the finish especially on a black car has to be on point.
So do you think Megs mf pads are better than an orange pad for polishing? with other polishes or the megs mf polishes?
Looks great I have been using Meg MF cutting disc for a while never thought to try a reg diminishing abrasive polish with it. I have had great success with M105, D300 and HD UNO
I realized today that I actually have the Megs Finishing Discs. I don't konw why I had it in mind I had the cutting discs. But whatever. The results were really good. We've had such great fall weather today - I went out to lunch with my pops and we looked at the finish in the sun. As my dad said, you can finally see the metal flake in the metallic paint.
