Handwashing cars is harmful to vehicle finishes

    Every time I see how bad a clear coat is damaged by machine washes I am disgusted. So far they've always been much worse than the average Sunday bucket washer's...

    I would tend to agree with some of what they stated.... the main exception would be that they think tunnel washes dont create inclusions in the paintwork..

    I know people that have washed thier cars in thier driveways for years and the finish is extremely swirled so I would agree that improper DIY washing technique creates damage to the CC...

    The International Carwash Association sponsored that UofT study, hard to imagine the results would have been any different.

    Agreed. That may be the study's flaw in that it doesn't take into account the fact that there is a proper way of hand washing a car, most people just don't know what it is, or don't care.
