This car is owned by a firend of a friend, he asked if i would detail it.... I kumped on the oppertunity. This car was painted in 1977 (the the paint was old) in a resto back then. The paint is chipping and cracking but all and all not in to bad of share, it has some rough spots but as far as im concered it just gives it chacacter... makes me want to know the story behind it. We arrived yesterday and washed the car with zymol clear, clayed with riccardo. This let us see how bad the paint was, it was in relivily good shape all things considered. We follwed with a single pass of 3.02. This cleared it up to what the owner wanted. (95% of the swirls gone). We then polished up the bright work with a few diffrent polishes dressed the tired with SV Phnue. We then called it a night, we then came back the next day to wipe it down, hd-cleanse it, and then waxed with vintage. \ While the vintage cured we started work on another...those pics will come later lol Anywho, this car was ablast to work on. I think it was the most fun i have had on a detail ever..ohh and it was so cool moving it. Driving this thing was the highlight of my week. And some of the pics are during some are after, sorry i mixed up the order. and no before pics, sorry. I forgot the camera in the morning so didnt have it till after lunch when the polishing started
vintage, sorry. I edited the intro to make it a little better.... but since it was for a friend of a friend and not a business thing i decided vintage would be perfect
Nice :wicked: such a lovely vehicle, man you must have been in heaven Mike :thumb: Vehicle looks great though, oh by the way who's the guy with skin and bone there..hahaha oh wait that's Justin hahahahahaha just teasing :lol2:
I worked him to the bone.... i was in heaven, i would rather have one of these over a new on anyday... I love the classics... mmmm classics
I see some more vintage cars in the back. When those being done.? Very nice work, was the old paint easy to work with? What pads you use?
Nice job on that car! And boy, did that bring back memories!! My dad years ago had a '37 fantom III with a 12 cylinder and a Windovers body with the separate chauffeur driven compartment up front with leather and the cloth interior in the back. It was so quiet that you couldn't hear it run if you stood next to it. I remember cruising downtown Windsor with it on a Friday night with my buddy looking for chicks...oh my God does that ever bring back memories!! (Big bloody back seat you know, LOL) Sorry for the rant, but seeing that car brought a big-ass smile to my face!!
lol ok fne fine it was more then hot... hotest day of the summer but still...WIMP thanks, the owener has a nice collection its alot of fun talking to him the paint wasnt to bad, it hasnt been polished since it was painted in 77, we used a 3m blue pad. ohh and the car has been washed twice in the past 10 year its true, vintage was the perfect wax, although we may try atlantique on one comming up that is really cool. I have a soft spot for these as well. The back seats are huge, they are litterly couches, they even have throw pillows which is just crazy thanks thanks.... the next two are comming soon it was huge, tons of paint but the time went by quickly. I think its the most fun i have had detailing. And thanks
wow I love seeing the old cars like that. I would have been in heaven detailng that too. You can see some awesome shine in some of those pics, just the way the sun reflects off of those curves. Cars like that are art. They dont put that much time into bodies anymore. I like the color also!!! Can't wait to see more of your work on some more classics!!
These cars are works of art, its amazing to think that each pannel would have been hand formed. the grill was hand made. amazing stuff. I have 2 more details to post, i just need to uplaod the pics when i get home. Plus tomorow i am working on the peice d'resitance. but ill explain that one when it comes up
