I see many of the guys just using diluted APC to clean the leather and then just treating the leather afterwards. How does this compare to using a dedicated leather cleaner and then treating? Would you recomend purchasing a leather cleaner if you still have APC? :shead:
I prefer to use a dedicated leather cleaner that has been made and tested for leather, it is just safer IMO. I like LeatherMasters and Sonus. I think using an APC on leather is too risky, but that is just me.
As you are actually cleaning a polyurathene covering; a diluted mild APC should be fine See article 'Basic Automotive Leather Care' - DetailingWiki a series of informative, unbiased articles dedicated to automotive detailing.
I too stick to a dedicated leather cleaner, currently I've been using the Zymol Leather Cleaner and I'm happy with it...so far. I'm not sure about the APC I too rather play it safe but just my :2cents:
With the polyurethane coated leather you are fine with a mild APC, the problem lies in the fact that you think you know it is coated leather but there may be a smart repair on one of the leather panels or the entire seat. It is not very difficult to lift up some dyes. It is generally a good idea to stick to a dedicated leather cleaner.
