Got me a nice careless driving ticket with a side of no front plate ticket tonight, great...

Its been quite a while since ive had a 9-5 after getting laid off, funds are running low, this is NOT what I needed right now.

Trooper said he got me doing 88mph, funny when I looked down at the speedo when I passed him it said 68, but he knows and I know I was going 88+ just before that. Damnit.

All I kept thinking while he was in his car blinding the shit out of me with his lights writing my tickets: I was really only a down shift away from beating this one, he was parked on the side of the highway, I bet I could get to 140 before he could see 60... <--- is there something wrong with me?

Go to court. If he won't show up, our case will be dismissed...you will have to get you plate back on though...

Unfortunately this isnt the case in my state, wish it was though.

I actually keep the plate off the car becasue I thought, hey if the cop wants to write me up for something, maybe having no front plate is the scapegoat I would need to get out of another ticket, not this time.

Anyway the careless is only 2 points, as apposed to speeding which would have been 4 or 5, and he told me that the first 2 points on your license don't count against you (my license is clean before this). Anyone from NJ confirm this?

I am sorry to hear about that, but I would go to court as well.

Running from the cops is scary. I don't know how things are in the states, but the fine for running from the police is much less than that of a large speeding ticket. Trust me, it would have been one of the scariest things you can do. You did the right thing....sometime doing the right thing sucks :(

Don't take my word for it, but I am pretty sure if you get away you just get a ticket in the mail...unless they don't even get your plate. I could be completely off base, but I recall reading something about that. I need to start slowing down as well.

ya...it is really really really really bad if you get caught though!

Oh man that bites, I remember when I got my RSX. The fist month of owning it I got two tickets :shakehead: that was brutal, I was really mad at my self....not the car, car performed beautifully :thumb:

Ever since then, I no longer speed, my co-workers say I drive like a grandpa  heck they can call me what ever they want, I aint getting no more speeding tickets :shakehead: no way....but mind you I no longer have a sport's car, when I get the ports car I want I'm sure I'll be singing a different toon hahahahaha.

Best of luck with the ticket, hope everything works out :comfort:

you get more then a ticket... i had a buddy who ran. Got a knock on the door, a nice visit from the cop and a set court date.. he got an extra ticket and got into some deep trouble.... the trial person was pissed

Not true in Canada..I'd run you off the road and then you'd get arrested..better to take the hit on the ticket and go see a prosecutor and try to get it reduced.

Well the objective is not to get caught :giggle:

anyway, I may think about it, but the potential consequences of running outweigh the two stupid tickets, for me anyway.:tlaw:

    this time:crasy:

oh if you get caught there is no doubt you would be arrested. Plus their has to be more than one driver of the car, so they can't prove who was driving. So the car just gets a ticket. Running and getting caught will get you searched. I by no means was suggesting it was a good idea. In fact I think it is a horrible idea.

Joe sorry to hear about your ticket!
You really need to put that plate back on. You did the right thing!!!! I think we all agree..... running from a police officer is a :badidea:. I have found that being respectful to the officer is the best thing you can do. He is there to do his job. When we screw up we need to take whatever they give us. Sounds like you learned a lesson ( we all have at some point) and will watch your speed for a few weeks. :rollinglaugh: Really sorry about your ticket!
ohhh yeah... running from an officer will get you arrested for sure!
