Since we all either have or want to purchase project cars at some point in time, what are yours? I have always had a soft side of old Volvos and Golfs. My wife doesn't understand it (she wants me to get a Chevelle or something), but this is what I'd love to have: VW Golf Mk1 GTI Wicked Volvo 240!
Yup, I agree I like the old school look...something about the box looking vehicles that only the old school vehicles can pull off :thumb:
My fathers first new car was a 1980 VW Golf Mk1, diesel, with a 3-speed. My mother drove it for years, we had it for more than 14 years before my aunt started driving it. LOVED THAT CAR! My soft spot for the Volvo 240 comes from my grandfather, he always drove them.
The only problem is that the older VW Golfs are almost impossible to find the US. Only the Cabrios. And even the Mk2 are scarce.
Volvo P1800S Sweet looking car Gullwing (no pics needed) and a W124. I have always loved them, and I am considering buying one now. They are just smooth cars.
I knew that you'd be with me on this one Pirex!!! They are a dime a dozen where you live I bet. But over here, ARGH! I might just have import one from Europe. A Golf Mk1 with a TDI lump would be the best! I would probably get 60 mpg in that thing and still get from 0-60 in 6 seconds!
You know me, love VAG :hi: Its more of them here, but the MK1 GTI is getting really pricy and few good cars. But we pepoles that live for VW here, so they fix them up In 5 years, I will have a MK1. Can`t wait. A TDI engine in a mk1 would be WICKED! 1.9 TDI on 150 bhp :chitchat:
Never liked VWs myself, but the old turbo volvo is cool. LSx Powered E30 M3, or a really nice 2nd gen RX7, now we're talking! Really, im driving my project car, minus the project part (lol no money)
my dad had a p1800 like that when i was born, 18k orig. miles!! My dream project car would be a 69 Camaro resto rod. Total body off, box the frame, drop in a LS7, full coilovers...ornge with white stripes and a white interior....*Droooool*
that sweet, im tempted to buy an old car form the 80's as a winter beater. Maybe something like that.. theo nly prob is those german cars are expesnive to fix
