    Guys,

My wife drives a black LR3. As much as I didn't want to get black, I did because she really fell in love with car. Now I'm paying for it. She does not take through car wash, and I always hand wash it. I polished with Einszett Polish and Waxed once last year by hand with Glanz, but the paint is just terrible. It looks terrible after each wash. I typically wash with Adams and then dry with mf and some Einszett Spray Wax. Im planning on hitting with a PC and some Menzerna and then using Glanz Wax as LSP. Has anyone else worked with this shitty paint? Have any other recommendations for me? Looking at this car everyday in the sun dives me nuts!! It just seems that the paint swirls and scratches so easily.

    Thanks Guys.

Assuming your wash process is perfect, I think you should get something more slick, and I would invest in a blow dryer of sorts and make dead sure you are using a good cleaning, slick shampoo and using light touch with your sheepskin mitts. Alot of times its drying for some that does some swirling on soft paint. Try a more slick sealant like 1000P or something from Duragloss or FK and try to perfect your wash technique. Pre rinsing, foaming with your mitt and liberally dousing it with suds before making physical contact with it.

I have worked on this paint, and I agree with the softness, though it makes it easier to correct.

Sorry bud but RRovers are quite soft paint and what you got yourself there is a part time job! As getcha said, perfecting your wash technique will go a long way to retaining your sanity.

    • prerinse very well. May mean getting a Gilmour Foamaster for your hose
    • two bucket method for washing
    • fill both pails ( 5 gallons each ) with at least 3 gallons of water and really flush the mitt out well when rinsing
    • when doing your final rinse, take the nozzle off the hose and let the water run freely over the car. By the time you coil up your hose, most of the water should have already sheeted off the car and you'll only have to dab up a few remaining bits.

    Thanks.

I do use the 2 bucket system, and I also use a foam canon. I also use a very soft mitt.

Once I hit the surface with a PC Im hoping it will look better.

Not familiar with Duragloss products...what do you recommend.

Can I still use Einzett Polish?

You sure can. You can use whatever polishes you like that give you your desired correction level. One of the things about keeping the surface slick(keeps dirt from sticking and makes easier to remove) is that you have to wax or seal more often than 1 time a year.

Duralgloss 501* is a cleaner/sealant, and 105 Total Performance Polish, is a sealant. You would use 501* on a finishing or polish pad after defect removal to clean the surface, ridding the oils and prepping to seal. Then the 105 can be applied by hand or machine. Super easy to apply and remove and lasts a good 4 months AT LEAST. THe good thing about these is they are available at Carquests and many other places.

Another good option depending on what you have is Collinite 845 wax, which is also a breeze to use.

Any particular reason you used Glanz? I personally have never found it very slick but thats just my uses with it.

Thanks. The wife's are comes 2nd to my M3. It typically takes up most of my time. Im a freak about it. I use Swissvax on my M. By the time Im done with my car, the wife's is typically not getting waxed. Until now, i was ok with that, but now that spring and summer is here, I need to get to it.

I would use Collinite 845. Ill pick some up from Phil at DD.

I use Glanz becuase i have it. I used it once to do a VERY slight correction on my M3.

    Thanks
