Ok so I'm thinking of adding a couple of more levels to my compounding. Currently my compounding pads are Sonus yellow and Tufbuf wool pad. What would you guys recommend to kick it up a notch? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Nick
really? From reading i thought yellow just had a bit more cut than orange. when I used them a few times i found that to be close to true. hmmm.... But yellow is a nice pad.
For compounding I mainly use M105 and PG. I'm leaning more towards a wool pad than a foam pad. Any ideas? Any twisted wool recommendations? Or anything in between twisted wool and tufbuf? THanks for the quick reply gents. Much appreciated :applause2:
Nick...I really want to try a tuffbuff pad!! I have an old 2 sided 3M wool and my PFW but want something with a little more kick than the PFW. Does the TB pad kick up a lot of wool dust? To answer your question, I would suggest a few compounds and a few pads that are interchangeable to give you a lot of versatility. Compounds: Megs 105 Menz power finish or Megs 205 Menz 85rd or Ultrafina Pads: white wool black tuff buff orange LCC white LCC black LCC You will accomplish any job with the above tools at your disposal.
Hey Richy, You want to try a tufbuf? I have a new one sitting around. I bought like 30 so if you want one just let me know and I'll send it over to you. In terms of compounds I have all of the ones you listed and a few more. In terms of pads I just don't have the white wool. Is that from a particular brand? Thanks again! Cheers, nick
I find the 4 ply twisted doubleside wool impt in my arsenal. It is too aggressive for most paint, but when you have a beat up ceramic clear, it can cut way better than LC purple foam wool and leave minimal behind when used with m105. I can't imagine not having that.
I can say that the Tuf-Buf's are really nice and finish surprisingly well! However, I destroyed mine when I did a 35' race car trailer. Now I just need to buy more!
