My friend's ride has got hit and run by an unknown vehicle.. he brought in his car this afternoon to see if we can do anything to remove the scratches and correct the paint. We had thought of rubbing out the scratches using some rubbing compounds then proceed with the M105/205 combo, but we were actually halted after rubbing the scratches. The scratches were just too deep to be removed by any type of sand paper + part of the clear was gone. Beside getting the panels repainted, are there any other ways that can make the paint look better?
That sucks. My car is in the body shop as we speak because of the same thing. If the paint is gone (which is looks like), nothing short of a re-paint will do. Obviously sanding and polishing will make it look better though; but not perfect.
Hit it with 105 a couple times. Any removable scratches will be cleaned up, leaving you with only the worst. Skip the rubbing compound, 105 is aggressive enough, just remember that the cut is dictated by the pressure.
