I have plans to renovate my garage this coming spring to better accommodate my enthusiasm for detailing. I'm having a difficult time drawing plans and would appreciate photos of members' setups; specifically, product storage and organization.

    Thanks,
    Brandon

Give pektel photos of your garage and I'm sure he wouldn't mind throwing something together when he has time. He's got real nice sketch software.

Personally my dream garage would have epoxy walls and floor at a slight angle for water run off so I could wash and all that in the garage. I'd have a channel style drain at the base of the garage for water to run off somewhere else besides all over the driveway. Ah, pipe dreams.

If you check this thread, you'll see a picture of my small little corner of the garage. :)

Hey Brandon, I still have some work to do in my garage, but last spring I finished off a couple of the walls, painted it, put in new lighting and put in a Gladiator storage system. Here are some pics:

And for lighting, the best way to seems to be T8s. They are not as susceptible to cold weather and on/off switching. They produce a lot of light as well. I put in 3 banks that hold 4 bulbs each.

This is no flash with my camera to show the amount of light in tha garage:

On one of the walls I finished, my electrician buddy helped me put in 3 additional outlets with a 20 amp fuse. Recently, I wall mounted a 40" lcd in there and in the works of putting in surround sound. Still need to figure out the floor and add insulation to the garage door and above the ceiling.

Carlos just had me look at Ucoatit for my shop floor. The basic package comes with EVERYTHING you need and it will do 576 sq/ft for under $300. Have a look.

You wont go wrong with Ucoatit, I searched and searched for a good commercial grade Epoxy and one of the shops I visited here in Calgary had it on there shop, has had it for over 5 years and the floor looks mint and we are talking about a very busy, busy shop. They sell lifts, cars, garage organizing cabinets..ect..ect..an area with very high traffic and I was shocked how good the floor looked. Now the shop sells this Ucoatit packages, but for much, much more. The quote I got was $3,000.00 to do my double car garage. I purchased the kit from Ucoatit directly with the help of Chris (eShine), for less then half what I was quoted from the shop localy.

Any who, once the weather gets better here, I'll finish the floor off, but the thing that Ucoatit stresses the most is prep work...kinda like detailing. In order for the Epoxy to bond to the floor/concrete it has to be as clean as possible, funny how prep work seems to be the key to a few things huh :thumb:
