I finally got around to purchasing a tripod and ball head for my photographic pursuits. I did not have one before so I am very excited to begin testing it out and using it! :applause2:

I'm currently shooting with a Canon 50D & a 24-70 f2.8L along with the usage of a 580EX II flash. Hand holding everything in low light is possible but difficult because everything on the 50D weights over 5 lbs :yikes: This is where the tripod will most definitely help :)

Local camera store here in Edmonton called McBain Camera. since you're in the US however, I would highly recommend B&H Photo Video, located in NY. I think they have every piece of photography equipment known to man lol.

Very nice :thumb: I'm glad I went with a Manfrotto tripod, haven't head any issues with it what's so ever...I've been wanting to replace the head peace though but not sure which stile to go with this time around, yours looks good let me know how you like it when you start using it.

Look forward to some pictures :thumb:

Which head do you currently have? I know that the current 48x series is quite good, and the only difference in variations really is the load capacity. I haven't had the chance to try out other brands so I can't really comment on other then what I've got
