I am anxious for the bottle of Optiseal to get to me in the mail (maybe tomorrow). Was thinking of putting on three layers for winter protection. What do y'all think? any other tips?
I used optiseal last winter when I lived in Michigan. I can honestly say it lasted 3 months without any touch ups, but I put two nice coats in the fall. This year I'm doing 845 topped with OCW. I will be maintain it using ONR. I think you should be fine with three coats and maintain it with ONR and OCW. Let us know how it turns out.
I'd use something that lasts longer for winter protection, like Collinite or Duragloss...or maybe even Zaino...
I think that's an awesome way to go. I've never tried Opti-Seal but only hear good things about it. I like to use Zaino Z-CS Clear Seal which is the same type of product (spray-on, walk-away type of sealant). I'm currently rocking a base coat of Optimum Poli-Seal, two coats of Zaino Z-CS, and once a week right after the wash, I do a wipe-down with Menzerna High Gloss Acrylic Shield. My only tips for you is that once the coat of Opti-Seal is dry after you apply it, wipe the vehicle down with distilled water or Optimum Instant Detailer QD before applying the second coat. Opti-Seal is supposed to be spray on walk away, but if you apply too much it will leave a little bit of clear film here and there. So again, just make sure to do a quick wipe-down in between and after coats of Opti-Seal (once it is dry).
I second this...Especially Collinite (845, in particular), which cannot beaten in terms of durability. Besides, it's cheap.
