The body read readings of 110 to 120 microns on average and the hard top was anywhere from 240 to 320 microns. I did a test on the rear driver's rear fender since it was the area that required the most attention. The solution was one pass with Powergloss on a orange pad then followed up with two passes of SIP on a orange pad and finally one pass with 106fa on a white pad. Most of paint correction could be rectified with just one or two passes of SIP and one pass with 106fa. One interesting thing that I found out while working on this car was the paint was super soft. It was almost as soft as the dreaded Jet Black. After the paint correction was complete, I wiped down the panels with my IPA/H2O wipe to ensure that the panels were prepped for the sealant and wax. The first step was to vacuum as much of the dirt and dust out of the car as I could. I then went ahead and wiped down with Cockpit Premium and wiped the same area again with a dry MF to pick up any dirt I missed. The next step was then to extract the dirt in the carpet and mats and dress with 303 aerospace and on to the pictures. Interior - Before: 50/50: Interior - After:
great pics mate and an awesome correction on a pretty beat up car can i ask, in some of your 50/50 pics the paint small dots/specks on the corrected paint. Is that just residue?
That car was shot! You did a great job. Car looks completely transformed. How in the gods name does someone let their car get that bad....???
I was thinking Microfiber lint. That's what it looked like to me. Also... "VAGINA RACING" sticker? Really? Sounds like another 'typical' BMW owner.
I know (or knew, rather) a ton of boy racer/douchey BMW owners. It's not a sentiment that I alone carry. They were/are total douches.. and "vagina racing" seems precisely like something a boy racer/douche/joey bag o donuts would put on their car.
Ok....Thats fine, and I agree with that synopsis based on that sticker, however, that is far from the typical M3 owner. To make a blanket statement isnt really fair. We all know d-bags that give the cars we own/drive a bad name, but dont group me in with your boy racer a-holes.
Well I apologize if I offended you. However if I were you I'd get used to hearing people that think a similar opinion about 'typical' BMW owners.. (though you are atypical, so you're ok by me). Every car mfg has it's part of culture that everyone hates. It's no different than people who despise honda's for their melon shoter/buzz riddled exhausts, boy racer drivers and so on and so forth. It's also like thinking Hummer drivers have tiny wangs.. it just comes with the marquee.
Wow, that thing was truely hammered. You definately have plenty of great 50/50 shots to advertise yourself from this job, not a huge fan of LSB but you made it look great!
i gotta say i encounter similar mindset of BMW M3 drivers here in Aus, most have waited for the depreciation to set in 6 or so years after release, then buy one and think they're instant heroes and nothing on the road is as good they lose their shit when i tell them my 350Z was better engineered and less prone to mechanical failure, likewise the US guys on the M3 forums agreed, every marque has their stereotype element, and looking at that guys sticker i was thinking yep another hero but this thread isnt about the vehicle owners ultimate loser qualities with that insanely witty sticker, but rather that amazing correction
Nice job, the Laguna Seca Blue is such a beautiful color. You don't see too many M3 Convertibles with the BMW hard top...unique and pimp, but the sticker is just ridiculous.
Thanks guys. MF lint unfortunately, all my Uber towels do this, kinda disappointing and frustrating. :waiting: Thank you! I don't know actually, I guess when you let it go you really let it go. I own a M3 but I don't have any stickers on my car and I'm not seeing the parallelism between an "interesting" sticker and being a BMW owner... Speaking with the owner, it's more of "shock" and "laugh." Thanks guys.
