During the polishing stage what are your steps to cleaning polish dust on a panel? Do u guys just polish over it or clean the polish dust first.

What I have been doing is using ONR as a QD to safely remove the dust without marring the finish. Since ONR has some protection abilities, I would then follow it up with an IPA wipe down to remove anything left behind from ONR.

I wouldn't use a quick detailer or ONR for removing dust because they contain silicons and slicking agents that will make your LSP (wax and sealant) less likely to adhere.

I use Menzerna Top Inspection - it's the same concept as a QD but it leaves the surface ready for LSP.

Using Menz top inspection does not seem cost effective so usually I just go over it with an IPA wipedown right after removing the polish dust with QD. Is the IPA capable of removing silicones and additives left behind by a QD?

Meguairs has final inspection (I think that's the name) that is supposed to be like the menzerna product and is much more cost effective.

I'd recommend using either one of the Menz or Meg's mentioned. They will work much better than any QD since they do not contain any added protection in them. Spritzing down QD after polishing is prob not a good idea. Your lsp will only have a harder time bonding to the surface and will not last as long that's for sure.

How about when remove polish dust from a panel before I polish it? Frequently I will have some polish dust on a unpolished panel from polishing other panels. Do I just polish over it or is it better to wipe the dust off?

Thanks for all your input and help

Just wipe it with a MF. It if mars it is okay since you have yet to polish that panel. If it is stubborn use a final/top inspection.
