Brief history first. A friend had some body work done on his 84 Z28 and then had it repainted. The body/paint shop returned it with a million light sanding scratches on the clear coat which we have managed to buff out using UDM's and Optimum and Menzerna products and many hours of labour. That part has been successfull and rewarding. My question however is, what is the best way to get all of the powdery /caked polish residue that the body shop left in all the seams and joins in the body? Some of it we can remove with detailing brushes and soft tooth brushes. Water gets some of it too but there always seems to be a little bit left and it seems to me that there should be a faster and easier way to do this to get everything out. Would the use of an APC get this out? Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. TIA, Cheers, G
Q-tips can be your friend... or a credit card wrapped in a soft mf towel. Use a little quick detailer as well.
use a body solvent like megs body solvent, cg body solvent, or even tarminator..spray let sit...and blast away with a power washer...and yes some nooks and crannies only a q-tip, credit card, or edge stick will get out
:nod: :nod: :nod: I agree with these statements, it's always fun cleaning up after body shops isn't it :shakehead: That right there is a difference between a body shop and a detailer...attention to detail and not settle for seconds :thumb:
If you can find Technicians choice Work Horse APC you're in luck. This stuff is golden. Most authorized Mini Cooper dealers carry it as they use it in their detailing bays. Spray it on as a foam. Let it sit. Wipe off. Gone. Not sure where. Black Magic then has a kit with brushes and rubber q-tips. They work great for me.
