I was at the W in Austin, TX, this morning and saw these two beauties pull up for tonight's official VIP unveiling. Snapped a quick pictures before they covered up the vehicles. I had seen the M5 before in Europe, but hadn't seen the M6 before yet. Enjoy. The color on the M6 is "Sakhir Orange" from I understand. Looks amazing under the bright Texas sun.
Audi for life!!! Hate the aesthetics of the M5 although this refreshed looks better than previous, M6 is better. I have owned an E93 M3 which was phenomenal, but outside of that car I pretty much despise the rest of the line. I have also owned an Audi S5 and currently an A7 & Q5 and I just like the Audi's much much better overall. The BMW's have very good engines, but the from design, interior and quality of craftsmanship they don't compare IMO to Audi's. Nice find though!
Looks more like Tea-Sip Orange to me, they picked a good color for Austin though I just think these cars are getting to be too big. The hood looks like its 12' long and its not even a 7 series! I'd still drive the piss out of one if someone gave me the keys. What engine is in them now days? Is it a TT V8?
I'm not going to say that I hate the M5, but I have a hard time distinguishing it from the regular 5-series with the M-kit on it. When it first pulled up, I actually thought it was a regular 5-series with a nice blue paintjob. I don't think the M6 has been spotted in the US before though, so pretty cool I saw it for 10 minutes before they covered it up.
BMW has done a great deal of styling improvements. The new four-door is a winner for me and the coupe has upped its looks. Thanks for the photographs.
By the way, I spoke to the gentleman who was doing the detailed and he's actually the head of the detailing department at BMW of Austin. Let's just say that I was quite impressed, which is not usually something you'd say about a dealership and their detailers. They use top of the line products, and NO high-speed rotaries. For buffing, the PC 7424XP is used with the Meg's MF system along with the Flex DA. Meguiars polishes are used, and as LSP they use a mix of Meg's, Menzerna Power Lock and Pete's '53.
+1 to that. They haven't grown enormously in size in the last decade but they just look so much more bulky than something like an E39 or an E24.
The new generation of BMW is so mild mannered. If i had to choose I'd definitely pick up a Merc for that price. I really do prefer the m5 over the m6 though, why such a big car for only two doors? This is all IMO, don't hate.
That new M6 is hottt! cant wait to see one in person, I like the body lines much more (from what I can see) over the M5.
Hello P1et, I enjoyed talking with you today. Thank you for the kind words. It is refreshing talking to someone who knows what they are talking about in the industry. We strive to do our best and take pride in our work as most detailers do, I'm sure. bmwdetailer
Thanks for joining the forum Paul! Pleasure speaking to you as well, and great to hear that there's finally a dealership that takes pride in their customers' cars by using proper products and techniques. Hopefully more will follow suit!
