    Hey Guys,

I Recently decided to take my business on the road. I am looking to outfit my 2011 silvarado and am looking for advise. I already have an electric pressure washer and vacuum I know I will need a water tank and a generator. any suggestions on what size generator I should buy? or any other tools or equipment that I may be over looking?

Also, any other advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Respectfully,
    Dan

Are you starting brand new or did you have a detailing shop before and now going mobile?

What do you have so far?

Tools? Product? MF towels? Insurance? Advertising budget?

I started a small business a few years ago doing cars on weekends nothing big. I am a technician by trade and took a few body shop and detailing classes when i was at school. just recently I took a job that gives me a few days off a week and I was looking to use that time to expand my business. I live in new england so I am thinking of starting up again in the spring and using this time to get everything set up. i just haven't done it mobile yet and I am looking for some tips and advise on what people have done that has worked in the past and some things that haven't worked.

    any advise is appreciated.

    Dan

Tools: Electric pressure washer, shop vacuum, Makita 9227, flex 3401, and a porter cable 7424, misc lake country pads, i am toying with the idea of a vapor steamer. MF towels: I bought two twelve packs awhile ago from a detail supply store near my house.
Insurance is all set and advertising I have a bit put away from that. i have a good relationship with a lot of the shop owners, and local stores that have agreed to put out some cards and whatever else i can come up with.

If you don't have a cap for your truck my biggest concern would be loading and unloading everything everyday you decide to go out and do some detailing.

As far as generators go, the Honda EU2000i cyclo-inverter is what I have. I do work by myself so I only run one piece of equipment at a time. It easily handles my equipment and is dead quiet. A wee bit on the pricey side but buy it once, buy it for life.

Here is a link to an article I wrote a while ago to help a couple of guys out. You may be able to pull some info from it that will help you.
