All I can saw is WOW. I recently picked up a used set of Brembos - 8 piston/4 and the owner was not really the detailing type. High Performance pads = dust. I spent a little bit over 2 hrs with APC 4:1 - 2X, then followed up with P21S gel, soak, agitate, soak, agitate and rinse. It still was not getting them to the point where I wanted them. While the majority of the dust was gone, the underside ~sweep~ of the caliper, etc had dust that would not budge. Areas by the bleed valve, etc had remnanats. Steamer took all that brake dust if not misc assorted areas in less than 20 minutes for all 4 calipers. All I can saw is WOW. I've used it on the interior, love using it to really clean my wood floors (literally get's slippery once I use the steam cleaner) but today, I now realize the efficiency of a steam cleaner for a pro detailer ! I can imagine wonders on Pcar wheels, typical BMW multi spoke wheel, etc where instead of chemicals, you can just steam clean away !
I now realize the need for a steamer and would be interested to see the results you get Denzil. Let us know when you've given it a run. I was going through some threads searching for a good steamer but everyone on this forum drops about 600-1000$ for a crazy steamer. Hopefully I can find one like you did and only spend a fraction. Keep us updated!
I'm glad to hear you're having success with yours. I just got this one (http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f75/gaia-vapor-clean-review-3415.html) and I love it. I just steam cleaned an area rug that the kids play on last night and I can't believe how well it came out. With your bare feet it feels brand new..so soft. I haven't even wrapped my mind around all the detailing uses yet..your use with the wheels rocks..especially when you consider bad brake dust is only removed using very nasty, unhealthy chemicals. (Don't want those interfering with my cigar smoke, LOL) I will try it on the next nasty wheels I get to see how it goes. Thanks for posting.:mounty:
Yeah, I'll post in another thread when I get the chance to thoroughly review this steamer. Unfortunately I'm preparing for finals in the upcoming weeks so you probably won't see a review until after the 21st of this month or so.
Never heard of Brembo dusting so much...I know that all german cars dusts like crazy. My g/f's BMW in 3 days will have more brake dust then my Acura in 3 weeks... Although my Infiniti does dust quite a bit...Meguiar's Wheel Brightener can work well on caked on dust...never use it on polished alluminum...Never buy polished alluminum wheels...
same here man. my gf has a 98 328i and those rims are filthy every time she comes home from school. every week I have to clean it because the last time I cleaned it I must have spent a good couple of hours just really working those things. :shakehead:
I think it really depends on your pads. I've had factory Brembo pads, switched them for high performance Ferrodo pads and now they dust twice as much. But my car stops faster and doesn't fade anymore. My buddy with race pads never got his wheels clean. The high temps that a race pad can reach really makes the dust hard to take off if you don't clean them off before 24hrs. time.
Hehe, I forgot that I was going to do a review on the SteamFast SF-275. One more thing to add to the "to-do" list.
