Jess brought her Nikon D2X in? That thing is so ugly, she said it takes good pics.

Shes going to show me the ropes! I never knew she was into photography!

    ok 2 questions...

I got kind of annoyed when my flash was "busy" when I used it to often. Which flash is a good choice to avoid this situation?

and 2, mainly for Piet, How do you get your black borders around ur pics? I know its the Canon software which I have but it comes with like 5 programs.
So which program and how to do it?

Hey FMINUS if you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for you camera? I got the green light to purchase a camera of my choosing from my wife and I saw the 40D and the XTi and I'm thinking of going with the 40D. The 40D is way to much camera for me at the moment but I'm thinking that if I just go a head and get the 40D I'll never have to purhase another camera just lenses...well that's just me and my theory :crasy:

On another note, now that ure starting to use your XTi what are your thoughts/opinion on it?

Oh as for borders arond pictures, I've been using Photoshop. Really good program but it has many, many fuctions that I'll never use to it's full potential...just my :2cents:

Did you get any extra lenses with it? Man you guys always get good deals, I went to a camera store here in town and they are going for over $700 and they have another packge that comes with two lenses for about $899 or something like that  I'm looking online to see if I can get a better deal :thumb:

Thanks for the info though...oh how easy is it to use it? Have you started playing with some features on it...your the perfect person to ask about this because you and are probably on the same boat...both new to the camera addiction :chest:

Generally local camera stores will charge more then online places. Look on amazon.com and adorama.com Make sure you arent getting gray market stuff. Nica, I dont think you'll have to buy another camera if you go with the Xti. What will you be using the camera for?

um..heck everything...(mostly for taking picture of detailing vehicles hahaha) but from birthday parties, outings...ect....ect..ect..my go to camera really...I'll still keep my Sony camera as I'm quite pleased with it but either the XTi or the 40D will be for better quality. the XTi and the 40D look some what the same but the 40D has many more features...features that I may ever use...I got lots to learn but at the same time I got plenty of time to perfect my ability to take quality pictures.

So how much are these classes? How long do they run? How big are the classes? I'm assuming they very but at least that will give me an idea as to what I'm getting in to.

I have a co-worker that is a camera freak and know's quite abit I could tage along with him and he could show me some stuff, my other friend who takes pictures for a living can give me pointers but hi's got to much on the go and I'd hate to bug him so much.

These pics were taken at FULL AUTO. They arent that much better than the pics off of my point and shoot camera, but then again I have no idea on how to work the camera?

Pros- focus looks good, pictures seem pretty sharp, exposure is pretty good.

Cons- composition. Gotta develop an eye for photography. This is a hard setting to take pictures in though.

Buy some books so you can learn how to use the cameras functions. Id also join some photography forums, photography-on-the.net and fredmiranda.com

NICE ON PHIL!!! Full auto is the way to go at first, just to get used to the camera. Then you take it a step further and start messing around with the "no flash" option and take some nice pics that way.

    1) In regards to the flash, not too many people are fans of the internal flash. It's too "bright" and "direct" and creates a very un-natural looking photo. My mother in law is getting me the Speedlite 430EX for Christmas. An external flash will allow you to BOUNCE your flash (say off a ceiling) and create a very natural setting for your photo.

    2) And in regards to the borders, I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 on order right now (it was on sale at Staples!) but the software that comes with your camera should be able to do this.

ILl have to get one of those flashes. I didnt want to screw around with the manual settings and have a bunch of crappy pictures so I just took a chance w the full auto!

Whats the price of Elements? Is that an add on or the full version>?
