I know i have not been on here long but i have been lurking since the beginning an i understand where bob is coming from. i think this should remain open there is no need for it to be shut down aslong as everyone keeps it cool an straight forward. questions need to be answered an info. needs to be put out there as it is unfair to those one who pay an sponsor db two that own db an three that are here on db an have the right to know. i know i get hot headed sometimes an i know sometimes i get tired of stuff people say that may not be true or the correct way like in bob's post some info. an points he made i agree with alot but everyone was way more than fair with me on here when i was a pain lol an i'm still here.

I do think that an know that alot of what bob says is so very true cause it happened an was said to me many times. i love this site now more than any of the other detail forums out than an glad phil got it an hope it stays the way it is an grows the same. i just think this is going to be a long interesting thread that is way over due an needs to be addressed an issues be know. i myself have heard so much from pm's an phone call's from all the members i have had dealings with an enjoyed every new friend i made an helped out. so thanks to everyone an i know sometimes i can be a wild pitbull but bare with me an just let me know don't ban me we all here together an need to be a detail family.

it is good that we all share info. an stories good or bad an info. that may or may not help each other out not to mention our detailing experiences too. so i say continue with this thread let everyone chime in an lets get to the bottom of this but nicely an all together. :thumb:

 

Perhaps the reason (and this is just speculation on my part) Carlos left and decided to setup 'shop' elsewhere, is because of all the 'issues' as have been highlighted in this thread?


I am sure running any forum like this, where everyone rightfully has their own opinions, issues and the inherent 'skeletons in the closet', can become more of a PITA than the pleasure it was originally intended to be :shrug:


Perhaps Carlos grew tired of having to police this place, put up with the bickering and discontent (you will never please everyone no matter how hard you try), and sort out what, to those not actually involved, may seem like silly issues (I'm not making light of the problems you had Bob, merely saying they don't affect others to the same extent as they do you).


In any event I guess we are all free to do as we please and, like so many other forums, each will appeal to a different bunch of guys and gals for different reasons :thumb:

i personally have to agree with bob i always hated carlos i dont think it was fair for him to leave rude comments when something bothered him yet we were not allowed to do the same he didnt play by his own rules. how can you say that your selling this forum because you have a sick family memeber then start a whole new one a month later its just not fair to phil. i was glad to hear he sold db and was hoping to never here from him again. i too have had my issues with carlos via emails and i can tell you hes not the same guy that he fronts to be. i hope at the very least he comes on here and gives phil an explanation on why he would sell him his forum and start a new one shortly after.

Whatever the reason for Carlos selling DB and starting up Live2Detail is, its irrelevant. Its been done. This forum is about detailing, not flaming former members so if you guys want to continue this thread I highly recommend that you do it amongst yourselves via pm. The absence of this kind of thread is why I joined here in the first place. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, without question, but there is a place for this kind of discussion and an open thread isn't it.

 

there could be a lot of reasons for making new forum. we had problem with out accord forum owner that he switched to whole new forum set up then it was before and a lot of ppl didnt like it so we went to another forum that one of our mods had set up long time ago and it grew a lot. not the case here but you know. just wanted to say something

 

The past is the past and cannot be changed. All we have is today and a hope for tomorrow! Why give free advertising to someone you despise? Phil is a great guy and deserves our support.

I've learned way too many things from Phil, Dave, bob and others since I started enjoying detailing cars.

I love ya and have bought some great products from you, however in this case someone judged others with a heavy gavel and were guilty of shenanigans themselves........ so me thinks the reason as being "irrelevant" is not applicable in this case when you hold yourself as being on a higher level of conduct and lecture others about thier conduct.

Survey says........ "the truth is always in style" and of course another quaint saying "absolute power corrupts absolutely".

 

Thats fine Bob. I agree that everyone gets what they deserve eventually. My point was that this forum is about detailing cars. I fail to see how this thread correlates to detailing .

 

On a personal level -- I wholly agree.

On a Moderator level -- this thread is on our radar as having potential to get out of hand. Behave yourselves and discussion can continue here, otherwise we're gonna have to do the mod thing we rarely have to do (thank you guys) and close it.

I don't understand why people are getting bent out of shape on this.

Its BUSINESS, regardless or if we are members of an otherwise free-to-us forum or not.

Carlos, whether he told us or not obviously sold the forum to Phil as a business move. With the amount people spend each month to advertise on here, it made sense to him to sell the forum given what was going on in his life.

I won't speak for Phil but it makes sense that if you are going to spend X amount each year to advertise, and you see it as a long term commitment, if you got the funds, you may as well buy it.

When Carlos mentioned big news for 2010, I don't think he was lying or being deceitful. It was big news, he sold the forum he spent a lot of time moderating, setting up and building. I am not a friend or enemy of any sort of Carlos' , so I say this out of what I see and what we all now know.

Its not really any of our business what Carlos did with the forum he designed and built. :chillpill:

 

Everyone has a right to their opinion and I appreciate everyone's attention to this topic not getting out of hand as of yet.

Carlos (Nica) is still a member here, and should he feel the need to respond or give his side, he is more than welcome to do so.

With that being said, let's all play nice and be adults and we won't have to close this thread.

Phil is a stand-up character and Carlos is a tremendous douche bag. I'll leave it at that.

 

well i guess the point that a few people are trying to make is . . . . . . why couldn't carlos just be honest (maybe he was and maybe he wasn't)

why would one use a family member as a reason to sell things instead of possibly being straight up and saying that he is selling the forum he spent so much time building because he simply wanted to start another one from ground 0?

Anyhow, nothing can be changed . . . . . . what's done is done and as previously mentioned we only have today and can hope for tomorrow so with that said i think we should move on and away from giving Carlos all the attention and stick to supporting DB.

i'm sure he is aware that the thread is here and if he feels the need to respond then he can otherwise he can leave things the way they are.

 

Guys, there is more to this than I was banned andIi have an ax to grind etc...... . In my old age I have developed a zero tolerance for shady actions and people embellishing events and what not to make themselves seem larger than life.

We are all here to showcase work and give a free exchange of techniques on how to correct problems in the course of a detail, conversly there will be camps who support products and the people behind them with the bias that will naturally come about.

As to respond to you Ken this post was put in the "off topic" section because it is "off topic" although it relates to detailing as that is what most of us are here for, although some almost never post work or give tips on how to help someone with a particular problem which I do almost everyday in PM's.

I was pointing out hypocrisy when someone with the power to ban or delete posts(Carlos's rite as he did own the site no arguement there) but this situation is like a police officer taking you to jail for road infractions that he does every day........... it is wrong and I pointed it out.

I am the kind of person who believes in respect strongly...... so much so I would admit I have no grey area when it comes to this, If I cut someone off with my car I put up my hand as to say "my bad" and I respect others property and personal space as well ALWAYS. There is more to the "story" and if given the greenlight I will spill the beans because shadyness needes to be exposed at all times.

There are some who talk with me and everything is oki dokey but behind my back.......................... "who does he think he is doing all those exotics" or "He thinks his poop does not stink" "He is not all that" etc...... I never try to come off this way, but it does not matter I still get banged or grouped in a certain way, I notice nobody calls out Paul Dalton for the level of cars he works on??? but he gets the "hatorade" behind the scenes as well.

Almost everyone who has PM'd me on all the chat forums I have taken time to answer questions or just shoot the s**t on detailing as I am a CAR GUY to the bone because at my age I should be doing something else but I still love to make cars look their best.

In closing I know there will the F-Him crowd, but I do not care and if you say something untrue about me or try and hurt my business like Andy(got wax) did you get my full attention, to the other passionate detailers pro and novice alike that are sane and humble I will continue to have a good relationship with.
