togwt, I didn't mean to step on your toes. This is my experience painting denim harleys for a local dealer. They don't sell well.
I Love this matte black especially on this ferrari. A matte red would be amazing. This Matte Blue Lamborghini was at the NAIAS this year and is stunning in person.
Those Lambos look great. I think the positive side of matte finishes is that they show the lines of the car really well.
Really. I have been seriously considering an Iron 883 in Black Denim. I like it because I can reach the ground and like how it handles.
:thumb::thumb: You can get paints with the flat look in both single stage and bc/cc. PPG also has 2060 flex n flat clear. You can use it straight for flat and mix it with different ratios with gloss clears to achieve the level of gloss you want. There is no code for "flat black," if youre going PPG its black base (DMD 1683) and a flat clear (DCU 2060).... but unless you want to pay out the ass for base and flat clear, id go with HRF and stay away from PPG (or any other BC/CC system out there) Some epoxys (PPG DPLF 90 for instance) that when they cure, look identical to what HRF now does, it had that "perfect" lack of shine, its what all the old schoolers used back in the day when there was still lead in the epoxy, for health reasons, the lead has since been removed (damn you osha) and because of that, it breaks down pretty quickly now if left without topcoat. HRF is hot rod flatz which you can get in a variety of colors that will achieve the same "flatt" results. Windex works really well for cleaning flat/satin paint. Not black, but HRF Midnight Blue
So far the matte, only looks decent in black and only if Batman was driving it. Yea it's a craze, but it's for people who want to be different. Heck, when I grew up, only men from the navy who had crossed the equator, would get their ear pierced, now you see what's happened to that.. I'd like to think this is a short lived craze, but I'm probably wrong on that too, look at body piercing.. Oh speaking of that, I've saved a few chicken bones for my nose, next is to make an appointment to get the hole drilled. LOL LOL
I don't recall seeing a matte vehicle, so I'd have to see it first before I can comment on it. On pictures it looks neat...different but I would have to agree on pictures it seems to high light the body lines or what I like to call curves :thumb: Very neat looking vehicles, I have a friend who back in his youth had several car shows and he tells me that he always had matte colour vehicles because they would always present much better compared to all the other vehicles with clear coat. I wish I knew more about maintenance on matte vehicles, but regrettably I don't know much...just what ever Gerry (my friend who owns a body shop) tells me  By the way, that Lexus has a different type of matte finish :shead:

Thanks for the info wagonproject. I can't imagine using windex on a car though haha. I am not a fan of Lexus, but that one looks interesting.
I'm still in shock that they actually do this. I just found this out but I'm starting to think that it's very cool...:thumb:
